A downloadable game

Rusty's Treasure Hunt is a game I developed while working at Twinkl. The game is aimed at EFYS and KS1.

I was asked to create a game to introduce young players to coding and problem solving. The project requirments gave a lot of freedom to do what I felt would work. Sequenced commands weren't allowed for this game. So I developed a puzzle maze game with a pixel art style with the aim of creating a new Masscott for Twinkl Computing.

The idea of this game was to slowly introduce new meahcanics. This game introduces a new mechanic in a safe/simple enviorment where making a mistake is very hard or impossible. After, a follow up level will test the player's knowledge of the new mechanic.

For example, level 5 introduces the push rocks, but you can only push the 1st one in one direction. It is impossible to mess this up and demostrates the mechanic. The second part allows the player to push the rock and mess up, but this won't require a level restart as the player can walk around, which consumes more steps and hopefully teaches a lesson that you don't always need to push a push rock you encounter.

This game also features a post-game level, which is the size of 3 levels. The aim is to challenge and push player's knowledge to the extreme. Testing the player's knowledge of the game's mechanics and providing a challenge for those who found the main game too easy.

This game is for the WebGL platform.

This game requires a Twinkl subscription to play so a full walktrhough video has been included.
